SporeTree
This time the spores turned into a tree. It is by no means perfect, the branches does not move upwards with the stem as it should, were this a real orange colored scary spore tree.
This was just some “while Im doing nothing, let’s put whatever in the ‘fun’ category”
but if anyone would like the code, throw me a comment and I’ll send it off. I is uncommented and messy.

I’d be interested in seeing the code–brainstorming a couple of game ideas

Hi Kaolin I like your writing and I would like to hear more about your game ideas.
here is the source and a couple of swf’s!
As I said, it is uncommented and messy. Do feel free to ask about particular obscure things I accidently put in there:)

Thanks =)
Game idea ~ I actually came here from the Soulwire tentacles (though that was in searching for some tentacles I saw on processing early this year or late last). Don’t even remember what got me going down the tentacle road. Anyway, after seeing them I was thinking of a sort of missile command (and I had a name for the game: Kudzu), but hadn’t really come up with anything else yet. Wanted to play with the tentacles and see what I could get them to do

I did some hours of experimenting, but could not get my tentacles to come out right, they didn’t look organic enough, I was into some crazy and math intensive stuff at the end. Then I wrote and asked Justin how he did it and he shared the formula with me and was cool about me posting it here. Then I ported it to processing and did a mix with a tree algorithm to do a funny sporeTree.
So missile commander / spores? sound like that movie “Evolution”
I would love to see it if You decide to go ahead with it.
PS. Why Kudzu?

Kudzu–probably thanks to magic the gathering it’s what I always think of first when I think of out of control plant-life (despite more practical experience with cane as the weed that never quits. Plus kudzu has a nice curling effect).
I’ll keep you updated–haven’t had a chance to go through everyhing yet. Too many projects, too many ideas running all over the place.
